OPALS module transmits to its ground station in California

OPALS (Optical Payload for Lasercomm Science) is an optical communications link module developed by JPL and mounted on the International Space Station. It established a 50 Mbps link with the Optical Communications Test Laboratory in Table Mountain, California, which was used to transmit a high-definition video clip. OPALS flew on the SpaceX CRS-3 resupply mission in April 2014.
