Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network (LCOGT) is a global network of 1 meter class telescopes which can be rented for $300 an hour by anyone. This network of telescopes is far superior to any RF ground station network. A serious optical communications satellite attempt may find this network useful. Telescope retrofits may be needed for optical data reception. [1]
